Artist Bio & Artist Statement

Painter and illustrator from Baltimore, Maryland. Graduated with a BA in Art & Art History, and MA of Arts in Teaching.

"Creating as an artist is something I feel incredibly passionate about. I feel most free, calm, and creative with a paintbrush in my hands. The outcomes and processes are endless and for art I will always have infinite love."

Amber's artwork alludes to the anthropomorphizing of animals by highlighting the beauty, symbolism, and qualities of each; often in the form of portraiture. Through the mediums of watercolor and oil paint Amber captures the essence, texture, and color of various animals to convey a realistic yet impressionist style. Her work highlights the juxtaposition of light vs dark, man-made vs nature based, and vintage vs contemporary. Paying homage to animals and timeless beauty is the general theme of her work. Her intention is for the viewer to find meaning and symbolism in the animals we share this world with, and to reflect on how we connect with that meaning and symbolism within ourselves. The presence of details from more decoratively ornate time periods such as Gothic, Victorian, Queen Anne, and Art Deco are commonly used to convey elegance and an admiration for their interior and architectural design qualities.
